Show love for animals and do good

Every year we set an example for animal welfare. This year's donation item will be available in stores and online from October. Together with you we are strong for animals in need!

Every contribution counts

New year, new challenges, new donation item: This year, we have designed a donation item that will accompany you in your daily life and show your love for animals.
From 1 October 2024, our practical ‘Tierisch engagiert’ bag made of 100% cotton will be available in local Fressnapf stores and online. The large and spacious bag is versatile: whether as a beach bag, for shopping, for sports or when travelling – it offers plenty of space for your belongings and at the same time underlines your commitment to animals in need.

By purchasing our ‘tierisch engagiert’-bag for € 3.97, you are supporting animal welfare and assistance dog projects throughout Germany and are therefore part of one of the largest customer donation campaigns in Europe. For every bag sold, we donate 2 euros to charitable organisations.

Engage now

The donations go directly to where they are most urgently needed:

  • Strong together
Fressnapf donates 80 per cent of the proceeds to the animal shelter emergency aid of the German Animal Welfare Association, which helps animal shelters in need quickly and unbureaucratically.

  • Heroes on four paws
20 per cent of the proceeds go to the VITA e.V. Assistenzhunde association. The organisation uses the proceeds to train animal helpers for people with disabilities.

Our donation recipients

The German Animal Welfare Association

We have been supporting the German Animal Welfare Association in its work to protect every single animal for over 20 years. More than 740 animal welfare organisations are affiliated to the German Animal Welfare Association throughout Germany and receive fast and unbureaucratic help, not only in emergency situations.

The animal shelter emergency aid helps, for example, when countless confiscated animals have to be taken into local animal shelters and given medical treatment and care due to cases of illegal puppy trading and the facilities reach their financial limits as a result. The relief fund also enables urgently needed renovation work or other construction measures to be carried out. In order to be able to support the animal shelters in such emergency situations together with the German Animal Welfare Association, 50 per cent of the donations go to the animal shelter emergency aid fund.

VITA e.V. Assistance dogs

For 24 years, VITA e. V. Assistenzhunde has made it its mission to provide people with physical and mental disabilities with an assistance dog. These dogs, specially trained by VITA, not only provide comfort and security, they also give independence, courage and quality of life. For children, young people and adults who are dependent on a wheelchair, an assistance dog is an invaluable help in everyday life and PTSD patients often find their way back into life and society thanks to the helpers on four paws.

The Fressnapf donations go towards training new assistance dogs, who are prepared with lots of love and patience to support their future partners in everyday life. In recent years, ‘Tierisch engagiert’ has enabled us to support the training of assistance dog Querido, Alzheimer’s dog Audrey and many other four-legged therapists.

Therapy dog Audrey: the impact of her work

The non-profit organisation ‘VITA e.V. Assistenzhunde’ provides people with disabilities with animal helpers and companions. This includes the therapy dog Audrey at the Kurstift Bad Homburg. Fressnapf paid for Audrey’s entire training and lifelong aftercare, which amounts to around 100,000 euros, and also supported the organisation’s work together with its customers last year with over 110,000 euros. What makes it special: In contrast to assistance dogs, Audrey, as a dog for animal-assisted intervention, does not look after a specific person, but is there for all senior citizens in the Kurstift equally. You can see exactly what everyday life is like for the senior citizens and the dog in the video.
